Think about the classic
sexual description of the 4. The classic sexual description is the 4/6 in high school
and they have best friends of the opposite sex who they would really like to have as
a boyfriend or a girlfriend in the sense of them being not so much a lover but a
romantic connection, and instead they end up with them as a friendship and they
have to go through the ordeal of listening to their friends talk about their desires,
their romances, whatever the case may be.
It is often deeply uncomfortable for the 4’s to deal with this brotherhood/sisterhood
aura that they give off. But it also means that, at least sexually for them, before
anything can happen friendship has to be established. Again, this is one of the
things to recognize about the quality of this teacher that until the proper level of
learning has been established that the teaching isn’t going to be something that is
going to be effective.
The other thing is what is to be learned is going to be dependent on the investment
in the others. Think about the things you learn when—let’s look at just the first
phase here in terms of being a 4/6 profile—one of the things you basically learn,
most of the things you learn as a teenager you tend to learn from your friends, you
tend to learn from a kind of uncensored, un-propagandized zone. It’s not that you
ignore the other stuff, but there’s a tremendous amount of life information that you
learn from your friends. Most teenagers learn about sex that way, they learn about
the nature of the world that way. This is something where who you associate with
begins to frame the way in which you’re going to handle the world that you’re
maturing into.
So obviously, if you don’t have the right associations, if you don’t have the right
friends, you’ve got a problem. Instead of learning about this and that, you can end
up learning about things that end up putting you in a lot of trouble. You can end up
with opportunities that look like opportunities that aren’t opportunities. You can end
up learning lessons the hard way about investing in the wrong people and finding out
how quickly they can get you into trouble. It’s very common.
So whenever you’re seeing this 1st color as a profile process you have to see that this
is something that needs to be earned. And yet, at the same time you have to see it
within the context of the line because the line obviously is going to frame it, this is
something that has to be earned through those relationships and the correct
relationship will take them to the correct knowledge, will take them to the place
where they can develop their foundation, their solidity and begin their process of
being able to externalize it.
Underneath, of course, is the vehicle itself and of course it’s the vehicle’s life. And
here we have in the resonance of the teacher we have a brain system that is going
to be oriented towards investigation. In other words, as I pointed out to you last
week and one of the things we need to consider is that there are specific
relationships that obviously have what we can call resonant roles, and these
resonances are resonances that are running through the color in terms of
alternating. Obviously, we get teacher teacher, we get guru guru, and this is saying
something very special.
That is, I have to be careful here because I don’t want to—there is a tendency in
human beings to measure and the measurement always means one thing is better
than the other and if you don’t have the thing that’s better then you have the thing
that’s worse and you get all that stuff. For those of you that have any kind of
astrological background it’s sort of like a trine. A trine in astrology is a triangle
basically that is formed by three aspects, three planets, as an example.
So, one of the things to be clear about in terms of what you’re looking at when
you’re looking at a role model, because I think it is—we have themes like leader and
trust and all of these things. But everything about the success of the role model is
how well self-contained they are. The ideal for any role model is the personal
authority that is the gift of this knowledge. I am a 5 handing over the lantern to 6’s.
That is, the heretic that plays the role of cajoling and beating the sheep into line,
desperately trying to turn them into wolves, and turning that over to the 6’s that say
we stand by ourselves, and those who can’t stand by themselves, well, sorry.
We’re moving into a different age. There is an inherent selfishness that needs to be
recognized in the role model, and the selfishness that does not carry the pejorative
value of that. In other words, not selfishness as a bad thing to say about somebody,
but if you cannot be absorbed in yourself, in your process, if you cannot be in love
with yourself, you cannot be fully self-contained. The thing about the role model is
that the ideal is that there is need for nothing, but openness to anything, or
readiness is a better word, readiness for anything. So, the opportunistic role model
comes out of a being who out of the very, very specific way in which they fulfill
themselves comes the influence that they can have to impact the other; again,
within the context of the tuning of this role to the color theme.
The Investigator Teacher
After all, after the 6th line, we go back to the 1st line and so here we’re looking at the
investigator teacher, so we’re looking again at the investigator brain. We’re looking
at this brain that needs to dig into things. It’s got a teacher color, which in fact is
ideal. That is, this combination together. So you have a brain that can really get
into the detail, is ready to enjoy getting into that detail.
And as an opportunist, the opportunist can take advantage of that detail. It will take
advantage of it though in the selfishness, if you will, of its 6th color motivation. This
6th color motivation is driving one to be whole within oneself. And of course, in so
many ways that’s uncomfortable for the opportunist. It is. These last three here,
that is the 4/6 combinations with the Buddha role model, in combination with the
opportunist this is often in conflict and usually what it leads to is that these are
opportunists that have very limited networks.
And the kind of network that they have is a network that grows out of the interest of
the other rather than the normal interest of the opportunist itself. In other words,
because of the underlying brain system they’re going to be much more absorbed in
research than in expression. As a matter of fact, they will be reluctant to express,
and it will be drawn from them, because this is what role models are for, and this is
particularly true in the sense of the 6th color. In other words, to have their
leadership or to have what is trustworthy drawn from them by the other.
We Don’t Know What Role Models Are
We don’t know what the hell role models are. I don’t. Yeah, I have a theoretical
concept, and I see the emergence of 6th line beings in correctness, so I begin to get
a flavor of what that is. But you have to understand that this is not something
that—what happens when you learn about Human Design and you learn about the 6th
line in your profile and you learn about the three phases of life, you talk to people
about the first part or the second part and everybody is in agreement, everybody is
comfortable with what’s being said because it is clear and understandable and it’s
what you live.
But if you’re trying to guide a person to going off the roof, and I know, I’ve been
there, trying to do that for years to get 6th line beings to recognize that their life is in
danger when they’re at the edge of that roof, literally, that their life is in danger,
how important it is for them to be correct. But I don’t know what it’s going to mean
when they’re off the roof. There is no way of knowing. In fact, it is not simply a
matter that it’s their profile, it’s the particular cross, it’s the design, it’s the color, the
tones, the bases, the this, the that, it goes on and on and on and on in its
uniqueness. So there is no way of knowing what that expression is.
This is only possible when you have fulfilled or are fulfilling your purpose. That’s
what it’s all about. Remember that the role models that we see, whether it’s the
3/6, the 4/6, the 6/2, the 6/3’s those role models that we see in terms of profile,
again in our looking at them, particularly as not-self, the dilemmas of the Saturn
cycle, the dilemmas of the roof, all of those are just very, very clear because they
are old, they’re old stuff and the 6 has been through that old stuff over and over
again, incarnation after incarnation. For 6’s, I don’t mean individuals in that sense,
that they’re always the same profile; always that binary; never transition.
My way of understanding the seven-centered 6th being is that as they enter into their
roof stage, that’s the last stage they ever have. They get more distant, they get
colder, they get more aloof, they get further away, and that’s the end of the process.
There is no mutation.
Since 1781 the mutation has been in place. And everything about Human Design,
everything about Human Design is about making sure that we understand that we
are in mutative times in that we know how to live in them correctly. And that the
focus on these times is something that is expressed in the very way in which we
assemble a chart. That is, the nodes of the moon representing the life and
representing the division of the life, that based on the Uranian cycle that we have
this new life, literally new life.
It’s hard to understand because it is not a part of our real memory to know what it
meant to live in a Saturnian cycle as a seven-centered being for 85,000 years. That
Saturnian cycle was deeply, deeply cruel. Everything was compressed. You were
adult very quick. Your life was literally very short. We do not have this true
memory. We have come in at a time in which it appears that everybody gets to live
longer and longer and longer and it’s been going on throughout this entire cycle.
Now it’s been aided by many things. It has been added by the Cross of Planning and
the ability to be able to build institutions, to train scientists, and endless kinds of
things that are involved in all of this.
